Montgomery County, Alabama Warrant Search
Warrants in Montgomery County are issued by judges or magistrates. Following Ala. Code § 15-7-4(a)-(b), they must be in writing, signed by the issuer, state the probable cause or complaint, and expressly instruct the requester to carry out the search or arrest.
Because warrants are court documents, they are subject to the same public access rules as general public court records. However, active warrants maintained in a law enforcement agency's internal database may be regarded as investigative material, and those are protected from public disclosure, per Ala. Code § 12-21-3.1(b).
Any agency can still decide to make unexecuted warrants public for the common good. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has a Warrants Search portal where people can review the name, warrant number, and issuance date of active warrants.
